1971 Fender Thinline Telecaster – Lavender Lilac

This 1971 Fender Thinline Telecaster is shown here in its original Lavender Lilac finish. A few years ago, a picture of a key piece of Fender history began circulating around online. Written on what looks to be a manilla envelope, in Freddy Tavares’ handwriting, was the original list of custom color names intended for the Thinline Telecaster. We were lucky enough to have a nice collection of Thinlines at the time, and were able to match every color name on the list to a guitar we owned. Though the Lavender Lilac finish on this guitar has faded over time, it’s a gorgeous example of a rare color. It’s so evenly faded on the front, it almost looks as if the guitar was always this color! Although it looks super Gray now, you can clearly tell by the back of the guitar and its tan lines that it was originally purple. One thing is for sure though, we haven’t seen any fade quite like this one, making it super unique!

Overall Condition:  6.5, heavy fade throughout with some discoloration, but not a lot of finish damage if at all
