1954 Fender Super 5C4 Wide Panel Guitar Combo Amp Tweed
Description
Bay Area Vintage Guitars is pleased to present this outstanding 1954 Fender Super Amp, wide-panel 5C4—the third major evolution of the Super line.
Visually, it nods back to the earlier V-fronts, but under the hood, it’s a dual-6L6 powerhouse that marries punchy, piano-like cleans with that legendary compressed grind when you lean in. Whether you play single coils, P-90s, or humbuckers, this amp delivers the authentic tones of Buddy Guy, early Clapton, and west-coast jump blues—pure 50's tweed mojo in every note. The wide-panel Supers were made in small numbers, and even fewer survive in this original, this clean, and this ready-to-roar condition.
What Makes This One Special:
• Original Jensen P10R speakers with matching 220308 date codes (8th week of 1953) — factory-matched and still singing beautifully.
• Wide-panel 5C4 Supers were produced in limited numbers, and far fewer remain in this original and well-preserved condition.
• Serial #5479 - early 1954 production.
• All transformers are original, as are the chassis, circuit board, pots, tweed covering, grille, back panels, and control hardware.
• Only five capacitors were replaced (with high-quality parts) to maintain reliability without sacrificing the tone or originality.
• VOS tubes, including a strong matched pair of 6L6s, for that warm, dimensional tweed breakup.
• Upgraded with a new VOS leather handle.
• Professionally installed 3-prong grounded power cord for safe operation.
• Far rarer than the Deluxe or Bassman of the same era.
• Includes Victoria Luggage cover.
