1966 Fender Stratocaster – Candy Apple Red (Bound Fretboard)
Description
This original 1966 Fender Stratocaster in Candy Apple Red has a crazy figured neck, and features an extremely rare bound rosewood fretboard with dot inlays! With Fender’s new CBS ownership in full swing, the Stratocaster saw several updates in 1966, with a couple displayed on this piece. You hardly ever see a Stratocaster with a bound neck with dots, as we believe that this was either custom-ordered or experimental since a few other examples have emerged from this same year. This was definitely someone’s player, as this flamed neck has been worn in for a smooth, slick feel. These original frets still have plenty of life left in them. This piece is fully original, with the only note being that a decal looks to have been added and removed from the back of the headstock at some point.
