1965 Fender Stratocaster – Lake Placid Blue

Description

The original finish on this 1965 Fender Stratocaster in Lake Placid Blue has aged to a beautiful Ocean Turquoise Metallic hue. It also features a maple cap neck with a small headstock, a highly desirable combo that only appeared in 1965. The finish on both the body and neck has developed a rich patina, with the neck taking on a beautiful golden shade that highlights subtle figuring. Playability is fantastic on this piece, with three well-balanced gray bobbin pickups that sound crisp and full in each position. These pickups date to December of 1965, while the neck is from June ’65 and the pots are from the 32nd week of 1965. The overall resonance is great, and the neck is extremely comfortable in the hand. With these specs and how cool this example has aged, it’s certainly a catch.
