1965 Fender Stratocaster – Blue Ice Metallic
Description
And now for one of our personal favorite Fender custom colors! This 1965 Fender Stratocaster remains all original, including its Blue Ice Metallic finish. Originally appearing in 1965, this finish replaced Daphne Blue on Fender’s custom color chart. It only lasted until 1969, making Blue Ice Metallic guitars a highly sought-after and difficult to find. The clear coat on this guitar has yellowed some with age, giving the finish a slight green tint. Though in some of the areas of wear, particularly on the bass side of the body, you can see that blue metallic color peeking through. This maple neck is supremely soft and perfectly worn in for a great playing experience. While these original frets show some wear, we don’t think this guitar requires a refret anytime soon. CBS purchased Fender in early 1965, so this instrument features a slew of transitional appointments, including pearloid dots, a transition logo on a small headstock, and a white guard. Complete with its original case and hang tag, this ’65 Strat has everything you’re looking for in a rare custom color from this era!
