1965 Fender Stratocaster – Olympic White (Maple Cap)

Description

Here we have a spectacular 1965 Fender Stratocaster in its original Olympic White finish! This guitar is special because it’s one of the earliest examples to feature a “maple cap” fretboard with the traditional smaller headstock! Having used rosewood veneer for several years, Fender began experimenting with a maple veneer fretboard in the mid-60s. It wasn’t until 1966 that this feature was offered on standard production guitars. Some players prefer this scarcely found feature for the brighter sound it gives the guitar. Plus, the maple on this neck has some slight playwear, making for a smooth and supple finish that feels incredible to play in hand.
