1956 Fender Precision Bass – Fullerton Red
Description
How cool is this 1956 Fender Precision Bass in Fullerton Red?! This red shade was Fiesta’s predecessor, created by and named after Fender’s George Fullerton. This shade is a bit deeper and richer than what Fiesta would become when it was launched on the color chart in 1961. This particular instrument was built and painted for the NAMM show of that year. Looking at the wear spots on this bass, we can see a layer of pink paint that matches stories we’ve heard about this instrument. Apparently, several instruments were originally finished in a pre-color chart shade of pink, but they were repainted before the show to appease a wider audience. This bass also sports an original matching Fullerton Red thumb rest.
