This 2013 Fender Mandocaster (often referred to as the “Mando-Strat”) is a unique electric mandolin that brings classic Fender styling and feel to the world of mandolin players. Designed with Stratocaster-inspired aesthetics and ergonomics, the Mandocaster offers guitarists an easy transition into mandolin while giving traditional players a modern, amplified option with familiar comfort. This example includes a gig bag, making it a convenient and portable setup for gigs and sessions.
Tonally, the Mandocaster delivers clear, articulate mandolin tones with excellent note separation and a focused, cutting presence that works beautifully in a mix. The pickup system captures the attack and brightness expected from a mandolin while adding the sustain and consistency of an electric instrument. It performs equally well for clean tones and can handle effects for more experimental or modern textures. The familiar Fender-style neck and body contours make it comfortable and intuitive, especially for players coming from electric guitar.
This example is in mint condition and plays smoothly across the fretboard. The protective plastic layer is still on the pickguard and pickup cover. There is no visible fret wear. The gig bag doesn't appear to be original - it doesn't say Fender on it. It’s a fun, versatile instrument that works well for bluegrass-inspired electric playing, folk, rock, and studio layering applications.
