1965 Fender Bandmaster head
Description
Blackface, 1965 but still says “Fender Electric” on the panel, sounds great but has a few issues to mention up front. First, the output transformer has been professionally replaced. Also, the cabinet is a 1966 Fender Showman cab. The Bandmaster and Showman amp head cabinets are the same size and this one has a Showman label on the interior. Quite possibly original - either a factory mistake or a decision for timely order-fulfilling reasons, but of course might have been switched out one the amp’s owners later on. In any case, it’s an original Fender pine box with factory logo, tolex, and grille cloth and in pretty clean condition. This is 45 watts, fresh JJ 6L6 power tubes and a newer grounded cord. How do you describe the sound of an amp you’ve heard in hundreds of recordings? Rich, lush, and with deep bell-like tone? Yes, all that. This doesn’t come with a cabinet but as of this writing we have a ’65 Bandmaster 2x12” cabinet with its original Oxfords in stock. Hand-wired in Fullerton, California, USA.
