1965 Epiphone Wilshire – Inverness Green
Description
This 1965 Epiphone Wilshire is shown in what we believe to be an original Inverness Green finish. Epiphone technically did not offer this finish (Inverness Green was a Gibson custom color) but we suppose anything is possible with Epiphone being owned by Gibson by this time. One would assume this is Epiphone’s Pacific Blue, especially considering that the yellow-tinted clear over this guitar has worn away in some areas, specifically on the neck. However, it’s helpful to check under the guard in determining the original color. This guitar is starkly green under the guard, not blue at all. In fact, this whole guitar has faded a little, as it is greener under the guard and in the cavities than it is on the body. It is always hard to tell with green/blue shades, especially with Gibson and Epiphone. Still, given the internals and comparisons to other Inverness Green and Pacific Blue guitars, we have had in the shop, we are going green! Sonically, this beauty is a delight to play between these two mini humbucking pickups, the maestro vibrola and this ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge!
Overall Condition: 9, beautifully conditioned piece
